Ministry of Health and Prevention launches the World Immunization Week activities

UAE — The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has launched World Immunization Week activities in the UAE, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Health Authority (HAAD) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA). World Immunization Week will be held until 30 April, under the theme ‘Vaccines Work.’ Activities will include educational and awareness campaigns, in addition to organizing lectures and workshops within various medical facilities, to promote the importance of immunizations among community, to achieve the sustainable development of the country.

H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health & Prevention Health Centers and Clinics Sector, noted MOHAPS’s commitment towards developing the health system, to prevent communicable diseases in the UAE, by developing medical services, and modernizing vaccination programs according to the highest international standards. This will contribute to improve the results of the strategic indicator for children’s vaccinations.

Al Rand also noted that the main objective of World Immunization Week is to provide vaccines to as many people as possible, to protect them from vaccine preventable diseases. MOHAP is working to provide vaccines as part of preventative efforts against diseases, while ensuring that vaccinations are completed among children of all ages, travellers, and the elderly.
